Long before the balloons came, the horses were already here.
Where it all began
A ranch built valley by valley.
Right in the heart of Göreme, overlooking Cappadocia's legendary valleys, stands Moonlight Horse Ranch. A family business built on passion, run with care — for over 20 years.
What sets us apart is simple: we know our horses, we know our valleys — because we were born here, and we grew up here. Our stables are home to 30 carefully bred horses, each one known by name. We operate under the affiliation of the Turkish Equestrian Federation, which means our horses, our staff, and our standards are held to a higher bar.
Our tours take you through some of Cappadocia's most breathtaking landscapes — Swords Valley, Rose Valley, Red Valley, Pigeon Valley, Love Valley, and the historic village of Çavuşin. From sunrise to sunset, we offer rides ranging from 1-hour introductions to full 6-hour valley explorations, suitable for all levels. Never been on a horse before? No problem — our experienced guides are with you every step of the way.
We keep our tours deliberately small and personal. Fewer guests means more attention, more connection, and a better experience for everyone. Our multilingual team picks you up from your hotel and brings you back. Safety, communication, and the quality of your experience are our priorities on every single ride.
There are many ways to discover Cappadocia. But seeing this land from the back of an Anatolian horse — moving silently through ancient valleys — is something nothing else can give you.

Three generations
From grandfather to grandson — an unbroken line of riders in these valleys.
The Sheriff of Cappadocia
Rahmi Özgür — the man the horses listen to.
He grew up between the stable and the saddle. Three generations of his family have trained horses in these valleys — grandfather to grandson, an unbroken line of riders who never had to "discover" Cappadocia, because they were already here.
For years now, Rahmi has been the one local riders, foreign guests, and even other ranchers turn to when a horse needs to be understood. He trains them. He cares for them. He guides the rides himself. There is no link in the chain he hasn’t handled with his own hands.
The locals call him Abi — older brother. Foreign guests, after a few days in the saddle with him, start calling him the Sheriff. The name stuck because of the hat and the western boots — Rahmi has loved Western culture as long as he’s loved horses — but it earned its place because of the way he reads a horse before he reads a person.
There is an older name for this land — Katpatuka, "the Land of Beautiful Horses," given to Cappadocia by the Persians more than 2,500 years ago. Rahmi doesn’t speak about it often. But it’s the work he’s quietly doing: keeping that name accurate. Pairing the guest to the horse. Teaching tradition without lecturing about it. Handing the reins, one trip at a time, to the next generation.
If you ride with us long enough, he’ll teach you the old call shepherds used to bring horses back across the valleys at dusk. It’s the only certificate that really matters.
We compose journeys.
In most horse tours across Cappadocia, the horse is led from the front while the guest simply sits on top. We don't do that.
Every ride starts with a question: what is this guest looking for today? A first-time rider and a confident equestrian can't follow the same route. Someone who wants to take photographs needs different timing than a couple celebrating an anniversary. We build the day around the rider, not the rider around the day.
This comes at a cost: speed and volume. We don't accept large groups. We don't stack rides back to back in the same valley. We don't put a horse to work when it needs rest. The numbers tell us to grow. We don't.
